site.btaSofia to Host Next Meeting of Vienna Economic Forum on April 22, Says Deputy PM Gabriel

After a meeting with Ambassador Dr. Elena Kircheva, Founder and Secretary-General of the Vienna Economic Forum, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel said on Facebook that at her initiative, Sofia will host the next meeting of the Vienna Economic Forum, which will be held on April 22, 2024.  The meeting between the two in Bulgaria took place a month after their talks in Vienna, the Gabriel recalled.

The Vienna Economic Forum is an engine for development and has a leading role in finding solutions to global and regional challenges. It shows that the region of Southeast Europe is a factor of stability, security and development, said Gabriel and thanked Ambassador Kircheva for the energy and dedication to the causes of the forum.

On November 13, the Deputy Prime Minister opened the 20th edition of the forum, mottoed: "Continuing to Build Economic Bridges During Difficult Times”. The Vienna Economic Forum was established in 2004 with the strategic objective of promoting regional cooperation and dialogue between Member States in the Adriatic to Black Sea region. For two decades, the forum established itself as a bridge between the economy and politics. It gathers politicians, economists and diplomats for important discussions with the aim of developing the regional economy, the Foreign Ministry explained.
