The Bulgarian Tourist Union (BTS) is organizing Monday a solemn celebration on the occasion of the 162nd anniversary of the birth of Aleko Konstantinov - the great Bulgarian writer, intellectual, public figure and founder of the organized tourist movement in Bulgaria. The event will start at 11 am in front of Aleko’s bust-monument in Sofia’s Borisova Garden, the BTS said.

Attending will be official guests, scholars, tourist personalities, representatives of NGOs, members of the operational management and the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Tourist Union. Famous Bulgarian scientists and public figures will speak about Aleko Konstantinov. Students from the Aleko Konstantinov School in Sofia will participate in the programme. Traditionally, favourite tourist songs will be performed by the Mountain Song Choir and the Mountain Song Choir - Philip Avramov with its yodelling ensemble. 

With this event, the BTS launches the celebrations dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the organized tourist movement in Bulgaria, which began on August 27, 1895 with the first mass tourist ascent of Cherni Vrah peak on Vitosha.
