Bulgargaz currently expects the final price to be proposed for natural gas in January 2024 to be by some 11% lower than in December 2023, said Veselin Sinabov, head of the public gas supplier's Trade in Natural Gas Directorate. He was speaking at an open sitting of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) here on Friday.

The sitting was held to discuss a report on a Bulgargaz proposal of December 12 for the natural gas price in January 2024. Sinabov said the price is expected to be just under BGN 78 per MWh.

In December, the natural gas price was BGN 87.50 per MWh (excluding access, transmission, excise and VAT).

Lyudmila Vitanova, head of Bulgargaz' unit for prices, market analyses and pricing, said that the natural gas price has been decreasing for quite some time now.

EWRC Chairman Ivan Ivanov said a closed-door sitting will be held on January 1 where the energy regulator will adopt a decision on the natural gas price for January.
