The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) present its 30th annual awards on Tuesday. The prize - a bronze statuette of Hermes by sculptor Stavri Kalinov, a plaque and certificate, were awarded to businesses, ambassadors, trade representatives, media organizations and journalists.

The awarded companies in the BCCI Top 100 were honoured for their good work and the results achieved during the year, the ambassadors and trade representatives - for their contribution to the development of diplomatic and economic relations between Bulgaria and their countries, and the media organizations and journalists for their coverage of the positions of the BCCI and its members on current economic issues.

Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, Parliament Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov and BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov congratulated the winners and presented the awards.

BTA was a media partner of the event.

In his opening remarks at the ceremony, Prime Minister Denkov said that the BCCI is a very important element of the country's development. He added that he had listened carefully to the words of the BCCI President, Tsvetan Simeonov, to see if they speak the same language. "I saw that in two main directions we have the same goals. One is how to make the transition from a cheap labour economy to a high value added economy. It is clear that we need effort and investment, which is our common task. The other thing where we agree is that if we want to be successful, we need to fully integrate into the European world with the European rules," the Prime Minister said.

He said that "there is no reason to be much dissatisfied this year". "The world is in a very difficult situation, but Bulgaria has relatively good growth rates, investment has increased, which is a result of our common efforts," he added. He said that the government highly respects the BCCI as partner. "Together we will discuss the next steps to be taken," he said.
