A total of 944.7 thousand nights spent were reported at tourist accommodation establishments in Bulgaria  in November, 2024, (711.2 thousand overnight stays for Bulgarian citizens, and 233.5 thousand for foreigners), up by 10.5% compared to the same month in 2023, indicated National Statistical Institute data, published on Monday. 

In November 2024, 2,122 establishments with 10 or more beds, including hotels, motels, campsites, chalets and other places for short-term accommodation operated in the country, with 60,200 rooms and 124.4 thousand beds. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of places for accommodation increased by 2.7%, and the number of beds by 1.1%.

In 4- and 5-star accommodations, 74.5% of the total number of overnight stays were by foreign guests and 48.1% by Bulgarian guests. In 3-star accommodations, 16.2% of the overnight stays were by foreign guests and 26.3% by Bulgarian guests, while in 1- and 2-star accommodations, they were 9.3% and 25.6%, respectively.

The number of guests that stayed overnight increased by 11.2% compared to the same month in 2023 and reached 472,200, with an increase in both Bulgarian guests (by 14.4%) and foreign guests (0.9 percent). Bulgarian guests were 369,400 thousand and they spent an average of 1.9 overnight stays. Foreign guests were 102,800 with an average of 2.3 nights, with 74.9% of them staying in 4- and 5-star accommodations.

The total bed occupancy rate was 25.8%, an increase of 2 percentage points compared to a year earlier. The highest bed occupancy rate was in 4- and 5-star accommodations (33.9%), followed by 3-star accommodations (25%), and 1- and 2-star accommodations (16.4%).

Revenue from overnight stays increased by 22.6% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached  BGN 84.7 million, with BGN 58.7 million coming from Bulgarians and BGN 26 million from foreign citizens.
