The European Commission Monday confirmed that it has received a letter from Hungary against the charge for the transfer of Russian gas introduced by Bulgaria. The letter arrived last week.

The EC has sent a letter requesting more information regarding the agreement between Bulgargaz and the Turkish company BOTAS, which was concluded in January. The agreement provides the Bulgarian company with access to gas supplies from Turkiye.

The EC is continuing talks with the Bulgarian authorities, as well as with the rest of the EU countries, about the application of the European sanctions against Russia, said the EC spokesperson, when asked if there was any development after the publication of a report by the Centre for the Study of Democracy, which stated that the export of fuels from Bulgaria, produced from Russian oil, has contributed to EUR 1 billion in revenues for Russia.
