Bulgaria’s Agriculture and Food Minister Kiril Vatev and Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Solskyi agreed to start a regular exchange of agricultural goods trade data between the two ministries. Experts from both ministries will exchange data on the export and import of agricultural goods weekly. This transpired at an online meeting between the ministers who discussed Ukraine's commitment to control exports, the Agriculture and Food Ministry’s press centre said on Friday.

Vatev briefed his Ukrainian counterpart on a memorandum signed between the Bulgarian Government and the farmers' initiative committee, which provides for a ban on sunflower imports from Ukraine until the end of November. After this period, a regime for licensing exports of sunflower, wheat, maize, and rapeseed will be in place as agreed between Ukraine and the European Commission.

Vatev also talked about the concerns of Bulgarian farmers and agricultural processors regarding the import of refined and unrefined sunflower oil, powdered milk, honey, sugar, and frozen raspberries from Ukraine.

"It is very important to discuss all the problems that affect our farmers and to look for solutions together," Vatev said.
