Minister of Tourism Zaritsa Dinkova and the Governor of China's Jiangxi province, Ye Jianchun, discussed the development of new tourist routes here that could attract new Chinese tourists, Dinkova's Ministry reported on Monday. The Minister pointed out that just over 6,800 tourists from China visited Bulgaria between January and July 2023, a 138% increase year-on-year.

Dinkova pointed out that Bulgaria is a year-round destination with its winter and seaside resorts, sandy beaches, mineral springs, spas and golf courses. Analyses by the Ministry of Tourism show that Chinese tourists in Bulgaria are showing increased interest in cultural tourism, with the most visited Bulgarian cities being Sofia, Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo and Varna.

Dinkova spoke about plans to develop tourist packages that are for combined visits to several Balkan countries. This would give tourists the opportunity to get to know the culture and history of the region. She added that the possibility of opening a direct flight is also being considered.

Governor Ye Jianchun pointed out that Bulgaria is enjoying growing interest from Chinese visitors. "It is important for people to get in touch with Bulgarian culture and history, which they are very interested in, so I welcome the idea of establishing special tourist routes and believe they will be a success," he said.

Ye Jianchun extended an invitation to Dinkova for a working visit to Jiangxi province, home to some 45 million people, to discuss mutual partnership.
