The Varna Breeze by Exit Music Festival gathered nearly 40,000 people on Thursday, which included performances from Gipsy Kings, Dire Straits Legacy, Stereo MC's, 100 Kila and Dara.
"Tonight we start a tradition which we have the ambition to continue in the future. I hope we will have a really big festival in Varna that will put us on the map of European festival cities", said Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev at the opening of the festival.
The festival will take place until August 18, with free entrance for all residents and guests of the city. The organizer of the festival is the official representative of the EXIT festival in Bulgaria, together with Varna Municipality.
