The 32nd International Folklore Festival Varna started here on Monday and will be on until August 1.
This year's foreign participants come from Ukraine, Slovakia, Montenegro, Hungary, Georgia, China, Timor-Leste and Albania. The hosts are represented by the Varna Folk Ensemble and the Odessos Folk Song and Dance Ensemble.
The performances are taking place every evening at 9 p.m. on the Summer Theatre stage. Admission is free.
All guest ensembles joined in the opening, titled "Together Today and Forever." Tuesday's festival, mottoed "Travel around the World," features the Albanian, Ukrainian and Chinese entrants, and the Jantra Folk Ensemble, established in Budapest in 1996 by young people of Bulgarian descent.
Next, it is the turn of the performers from Slovakia, Timor-Leste, Montenegro and Georgia.
The closing gala concert, titled "Let's Stay Friends," will bring together all participants along with the Odessos Folk Ensemble.
The International Folklore Festival Varna was launched in 1992 on the initiative of Varna Municipality, which is its main organizer. It is attracting participants from Europe, Asia, Africa and America. The Festival is member of the European Festivals Association and to the UNESCO-affiliated Association of Folklore Festivals.
