site.btaK-pop Cover Dance Festival to Take Place for First Time in Bulgaria

The K-pop competition K-pop Cover Dance Festival will take place for the first time in Bulgaria, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria said in a press release on Friday.

The fifteen best Bulgarian K-pop cover groups will compete in front of a Korean and a Bulgarian jury on July 28 at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy.

The winner will have the opportunity to go to the final round in Seoul. The prize includes performing in front of an audience, training with a choreographer and more.

Annually, the K-pop Cover Dance Festival is held in only 13 countries worldwide, with Bulgaria chosen to host it for the first time due to strong popularity of this musical style and the exceptional skills of the groups, some of which have already worked with Korean choreographers and danced in front of audiences there, the embassy also said.

During the festival in Sofia, producer Emil Todorov and director Mario Georgiev will film the Sofia and K-pop music documentary. The production traces the development of K-pop as a musical genre and is expected to premiere in the autumn. The project is supported by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture.
