After an official UNESCO delegation visited Plovdiv for the first time on Tuesday, Assistant Director-General for Culture of UNESCO, Ernesto Ottone, told reporters that he is extremely impressed with what he has seen so far, especially the cultural layers. While UNESCO knows Sofia and its monuments well, it rarely has the opportunity to visit monuments on its tentative list such as the Great Basilica of Philippopolis.
