The Air Force of Bulgaria performed escort tasks on an allied military aircraft as part of a joint training exercise with the US Air Force. The integration of Bulgarian fighters into the mission of Bomber Task Force 25-2 took place within the framework of NATO's enhanced vigilance activities. During the exercise, held on Monday, MiG-29 fighter jets from Graf Ignatievo Air Base escorted a US B-52 strategic bomber, said the Defence Ministry on Wednesday.
The Bomber Task Force, which is currently based at Fairford air base in the United Kingdom, is conducting routine operations during which it participates in joint training and exercises with partners and allies, thereby demonstrating the U.S. commitment to collective defence.
The joint operations training and integration of forces into the bomber mission helps to upgrade the training of Bulgarian pilots and enhance the readiness of the Bulgarian Air Force to counter military threats and contribute to ensuring security and stability in the region within the framework of NATO collective defence.
