Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev has ordered audits of State Enterprise Prison Fund and the Bulgarian Citizenship Directorate, the Ministry of Justice said Wednesday.

The Prison Fund is responsible for the employment of individuals serving prison sentences and the Bulgarian Citizenship Directorate manages the processes of awarding, restoring or revoking of Bulgarian citizenship.

The audit will look into all public procurement contracts awarded by the Prison Fund from January 1, 2023, to the end of 2024.

In connection with reports related to the work of the Bulgarian Citizenship Directorate, Minister Georgiev has requested an inspection by the State Agency for National Security (SANS).
