site.btaJustice Minister Discusses Cooperation with Transparency International

Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev and representatives of Transparency International Bulgaria discussed bilateral cooperation at a working meeting on Thursday, the Justice Ministry reported.

The sides considered ideas about improving the national regulatory framework to ensure transparent functioning of public institutions and to prevent and suppress corruption. They talked about necessary interaction in the context of Bulgaria's commitments to MONEYVAL (the Council of Europe Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism).

The Justice Minister and the transparency watchdog agreed to draft a memorandum of cooperation which will set out a range of measures and initiatives.
