Bulgaria's cooperation with the United States in the field of security and defence was discussed in Sofia Thursday between President Rumen Radev and representatives of the National Defense University (NDU) in Washington. The delegation is visiting the region as part of an NDU course called CAPSTONE, the President's press secretariat reported.

The sides talked about ways to upgrade military training in Bulgaria by applying up-to-date methods.

They discussed the complicated security environment in the region and the challenges stemming from the war in Ukraine, the modernization of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and the strengthening of the country's defence capabilities.

They noted the pivotal role of Bulgaria's defence and security cooperation with the US and the need to use modern training methods to improve the skills of Bulgarian servicepersons. It was agreed that technology transfer between the two countries should be stepped up and industrial cooperation in the field of defence should be promoted, the press release said.
