PM Appoints Four New Deputy Ministers

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov has appointed four new deputy ministers, the cabinet's press service said on Thursday.

Stefan Burdzhiev and Stoyan Toshev have been named Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Food, replacing Deyan Stratev and Miroslav Marinov. Burdzhiev holds a Master’s degree in International Economic Relations from the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Svishtov. Since October 2024, he has served as an MP and was Deputy Minister of Agriculture from December 2021 to July 2022. He has also been a member of the 46th and 44th National Assemblies and was Deputy Chair of the Agriculture, Food, and Forestry Committee in the 46th Parliament. Toshev, a forestry engineer, has been Executive Director of the Executive Forest Agency since 2022 and has held various positions in the sector.

Georgi Sultanov has been appointed Deputy Minister of Culture, replacing Amelia Gesheva. He studied Music Pedagogy and Opera Singing at the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts in Plovdiv under Kalina Zhekova and later earned a Master’s degree in Vocal Methodology. Sultanov has been a soloist at the State Opera in Plovdiv and a project manager at the Pleven Philharmonic.

Filip Popov has been appointed Deputy Minister of the Interior. He holds a law degree from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski with a specialization in Public Administration. Between 2013 and 2022, he was an MP, serving as deputy chair of the Legal Affairs Committee and a member of the Committee for Control of the Security Services.
