The State Agency for Child Protection has launched an awareness campaign on the harm caused by the use of vape, laughing gas and narcotic substances. More than 500 children are planned to be involved in the first week of the campaign alone, the agency said on Thursday.
The aim of the campaign is to make children aware of the harm that the use of dangerous substances causes to their health and quality of life. The first meetings are in Sofia. Each event is attended by a specialist from the Military Medical Academy or Pirogov Emergency Hospital, who tells about the real consequences of the use of such substances. Later the campaign will be extended to other cities in the country.
Labour Minister Borislav Gutsanov supported the campaign and took part in an open lesson at the Elisaveta Vazova Vocational School of Design in Sofia.
"The state will be uncompromising in the fight against the use of vape devices and so-called designer drugs by children," Gutsanov said.
The events will also promote the National Child Helpline 116 111 of the State Agency for Child Protection and the chat application of the Helpline, through which teenagers and their families can get help and support.
