site.btaSliven Region to Declare Flu Epidemic on February 3, Montana and Dobrich Regions Extend Anti-Flu Measures
An influenza epidemic will be declared in Sliven Region on February 3, while Montana and Dobrich regions are extending their anti-epidemic measures, the press service of the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday. Sliven Region will have anti-epidemic measures in place between February 3 and 11, while school classes are also suspended. Schools will also be closed in Montana Region for at least a week starting from February 3.
In-person classes will be cancelled in the regions of Pernik, Plovdiv, and Varna. Schools in Vratsa and Haskovo will be closed until January 31, when the authorities will assess whether to extend the anti-epidemic measures.
In Dobrich Region, the deadline for the anti-epidemic measures will be valid for another week. In the regions of Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo and Dobrich, wearing a medical mask in healthcare establishments is compulsory. The epidemic measures will be lifted in Blagoevgrad Region Starting Friday.
The latest data from the National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases for the January 20 to 26 period that Blagoevgrad Region was the worst hit by the epidemic with incidence of influenza and acute respiratory diseases reaching 577 per 10,000 people. The lowest incidence for the same period was recorded in Sofia with incidence of 85 per 10,000.
