The State will provide compensation to families whose children were not admitted to state or municipal kindergartens because of a lack of available spots, with a total amount of BGN 1,604,031, the government press service said here on Wednesday. The Council of Ministers took this decision at its regular meeting.
The funds, allocated for the period from September 15 to October 31, are primarily directed to Sofia Municipality, which will receive BGN 1,581,701 to support 2,138 children. Plovdiv Municipality will receive BGN 3,834 for six children, while Varna Municipality has been allocated BGN 16,164 for 26 children. Bozhurishte Municipality will be granted BGN 1,555 for two children, and BGN 777 has been designated for one child in Rodopi Municipality.
Compensation is available to parents of children aged between three and the time they reach first grade if they are unable to secure a spot in the state or municipal kindergartens or schools they applied to. To qualify, the municipality of residence must not have provided an equivalent place in another municipal kindergarten or school. These funds are intended to cover childcare and education expenses.
