Members of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) are rallying in Rosenets park near Burgas in a show of support for MRF Honorary Chair Ahmed Dogan. Among them are MPs, local chapter representatives and sympathyzers. A BTA reporter saw some 20 people in total.

At the same time, tension escalated at Dogan's other residence, in the Sofia suburb of Boyana, as members of a crowd tried to break in the house.

The events come a day after Danail Papazov, the owner of the company which is the formal owner of Dogan's residences in Rosenets and Boyana, wrote in a statement for the press that Dogan has no role in the said company, has no right to use the two residences, and should vacate them. Shortly after that, MRF members loyal to Dogan published a video on the social networks complaining that unknown individuals have forced residence staff to leave with no legal grounds.

"If one has to leave their home, it should be done by the established procedure. Bulgaria has rule of law," commented MP Sevim Ali. Ahmed Mehmed said, "We came to support our leader Ahmed Dogan and we won't abandon him. We fear for his life and health, that is why we are here."

Earlier on Friday, the Interior Ministry said that police patrols were sent to Dogan's residences in Boyana and Rosenets after receiving calls from MRF activists on the 112 emergency line saying that the security of the MRF Honorary Chairman was threatened. After a check it was established that it was a case of private property dispute, where the Interior Ministry has no role.
