The Ministry of the Interior said here on Friday that it had responded to two alerts regarding a potential security threat to Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) honorary chairman Ahmed Dogan on Thursday. The Ministry added that the alerts came from MRF activists who reported concerns for Dogan's safety after unknown individuals allegedly entered a residence in Sofia's Boyana borough that Dogan had been living in over the past 20 years.

Police patrols were dispatched to addresses in Boyana and at Rosenets Park (on the Black Sea) to ensure public order and prevent any unlawful activities, the Ministry confirmed. An inspection determined that the situation was a civil dispute, which did not involve any criminal action requiring intervention from the Interior Ministry. The findings of the inspection will be handed over to the prosecution service.

On Thursday evening, three police patrol cars had arrived at Dogan's residence, where officers remained stationed outside the property. MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk, along with MRF MPs Ramadan Atalay, Timur Halilov, and Dzheyhan Ibryamov, were present at the scene, joined by representatives of MRF’s youth organization and members of the media.

Additional supporters and MRF members, including Hasan Aziz, the long-serving former mayor of Kardzhali, later joined them.

One of MRF's two chairpersons, Dzhevdet Chakarov, who arrived to meet Dogan's supporters in the capital's borough, also made a statement. "There is a lease contract in place, governing the use of the property in the Boyana borough", he said and clarified that the contract was executed between Dogan and the property management firm overseeing this property.

Chakarov said that the law will be followed, and the lease contract will go to the proper authorities.

"We stand in solidarity with Ahmed Dogan, the MRF, and their mission," he added, noting that more supporters are anticipated to converge at both the Sofia and Rosenets properties.
