site.btaInnovation and Growth Minister Will Coordinate October 27 Elections, PM Glavchev Says
Speaking at the beginning of a meeting of his Cabinet on Friday, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said that he will guarantee that his government will be equally disassociated from all political forces. "Innovation and Growth Minister Rosen Karadimov will coordinate the elections. I believe that he will have a good dialogue with the Central Election Commission, which is key for well-run elections," Glavchev said.
"Our main goal is to hold fair, transparent, and free elections," the caretaker Prime Minister noted.
Glavchev said that the new caretaker cabinet will strive to ensure Bulgaria stays on the European track.
"If there are fair and transparent elections, more Bulgarian people will turn out to vote, which also depends on the political messages of the parties that will participate in the elections," he said.
Glavchev urged the political forces "to focus on their election campaign and not so much on the caretaker government".
"The previous government, by everyone's assessment, did a good job. The changes you see are brought about more to calm political tensions than by a poorly done job. They were made in dialogue with Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev. We will continue to do our job as we did in the previous caretaker government," Glavchev added.
At its Friday meeting, the Cabinet is scheduled to consider a decision on the preparations for the snap parliamentary elections on October 27.
