site.btaParliament to Hear Four Ministers in Connection with Water Supply Interruptions
Parliament is expected to include in its Thursday agenda a hearing of four ministers in connection with the wate supply shortage across the country. These are the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, the Energy Minister, the Minister of Environment and Water and the Minister of Agriculture. The request for the hearing was submitted on Wednesday by BSP for Bulgaria.
BSP for Bulgaria MP Korneliya Ninova said on Wednesday the hearing was requested due to the water supply interuptions experienced by 100,000 to 200,000 Bulgarians.
According to her, 297 settlements in 24 regions across the country are affected by this problem. According to BSP experts, one possible solution is to stop the private hydropower plants that draw water from the dams.
Parliament is also scheduled to review amendments to the Environmental Protection Act on first reading, introduced by MPs from GERB-UDF and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
