After There Is Such a People returned the third exploratory mandate unfulfilled to President Rumen Radev on Monday, he said that National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan is the only potential candidate for prime minister with whom he has not discussed the possibility of forming a government, and he will invite her to have this conversation.

“The list of possible prime ministers gets even shorter. It was partially renewed with the election of Raya Nazaryan as Chair of the National Assembly. I have already spoken to all the others, but I will listen to them to find out if there is a change in their opinion,” Radev said.

If no agreement is reached on forming a government, the president, after consultations with the parliamentary groups and on the proposal of the candidate for caretaker prime minister, appoints a caretaker government and schedules new elections within two months, the constitution says. A caretaker prime minister is appointed from among the Chair of the National Assembly, the Governor or Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, the President or Vice President of the Court of Auditors, and the Ombudsman or their deputy.
