The fire in the Kresna Gorge has been extinguished, the Mayor of the southwestern tonwn of Kresna, Nikolay Georgiev, said on Facebook late Friday evening. "Thanks to the quick and adequate work of firefighters, volunteers, police, forestry officials and everyone on the ground, the fire was extinguished," he said in the post. 

Earlier this evening, a fire broke out in the Kresna Gorge forcing traffic near Kresna and Blagoevgrad to be restricted to one lane and regulated by traffic police.
