Flotilla Admiral Prof Boyan Mednikarov, Rector of the Naval Academy of Varna, said on Friday that so far the admission campaign at the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy has been more successful than in 2023, with an increase in enrolment by about 10%.

He specified that the main intake of cadets is still ahead, with some 15 positions yet to be filled for the needs of the Armed Forces. "After the exams at the Medical University in Varna, the Naval Academy will also admit doctors and nurses," Mednikarov said. In 2024, there are 20 places for military doctors and 10 for nurses.

In 2024 the only new speciality is a Master's Degree in Space Engineering and Technologies. "For now, we are planning to enrol 20 students, but if we have more candidates, we are ready to revise this number," he added.

The Rector expressed hope that there will be more than 100 new foreign students in the 2024-2025 academic year. This is the first time there will be courses for foreign students in Information Technology and Cybersecurity. Most foreign students at the Naval School come from Greece, students from Ukraine are on the increase, and the number of students from Turkiye is steady.
