The Executive Bureau of the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) declared its support for the actions of National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova, the party press centre said on Tuesday.

From the first day in this position, Kiselova has followed the rules, applied them consistently and without pressure, and defended the institution with a clear position and composure. In the current situation, she has shown that she does not succumb to pressure and manipulation, but acts responsibly and in the interests of statehood. We support her decision without hesitation, the position stated.

“We appreciate that our partners in the government have the same positions. This is a sign that stability and political responsibility are more important than momentary noise,” the BSP Executive Bureau said.

The BSP condemned the “destructive and provocative behavior” of MP Radostin Vasilev. “He is deliberately undermining the authority of the National Assembly and trying to create chaos. These actions are not a political opinion – this is sabotage. We do not accept and will not remain silent in the face of such behavior,” the Executive Bureau statement read.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party declared that it will not participate in “such scenarios”. They consider themselves a party that stands for order, law and responsibility, that has always been on the side of institutions, the statement stressed, noting that the party has always defended the Constitution and has been a guarantor of parliamentarism and the rule of law and will continue to stand for this, firmly and consistently.
