Sofia's National Palace of Culture will host the global forum on applied cryptography and cybersecurity Real World Crypto Symposium (RWC) between March 26 and 28, the Ministry of Education and Science reported on Tuesday. The forum will attract representatives from leading global technology companies and cybersecurity research centres such as Google, Amazon, Meta, and Apple.

Participants will present and discuss the latest research in cryptography and information security, including topics such as data confidentiality and coherence, authentication, and more. Solutions to case studies that affect the security of billions of users of popular online services will be presented.

The forum organized by the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) at Sofia University is expected to bring together nearly 700 representatives of the global technology business and scientific elite. So far, the forum has been held in Toronto, Tokyo, Amsterdam, New York, and Palo Alto.

The speakers at the event include Prof. Adi Shamir, winner of the Turing Prize, and Prof. Kenny Paterson, co-founder of the RWC. Paterson will give an open public lecture at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski as part of the INSAIT Tech Series.

Hosting the global forum is recognition of INSAIT's role on the global technology stage, while holding the RWC in Sofia is a step towards establishing Bulgaria as a hub for technology development at regional and global level, the organizers said.
