The opinion of GERB-UDF’s parliamentary group is that negotiations with Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) and the signing of a coalition agreement between the power-sharing partners are imperative, GERB-UDF deputy floor leader Denitsa Sacheva said at a briefing in Parliament on Wednesday.

"It is clear that we are working together, it is clear that we are working on specific issues and priorities and we do not accept Continue the Change’s behaviour as [they] are continuously neglecting the fact that GERB-UDF is the first political force that won the trust of its voters and has the right to propose and implement the programmes and priorities for which it was elected by its voters," Sacheva noted.

Constant hints of "corruption baggage" are ridiculous, she said, commenting on Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov’s words, who said earlier on Wednesday that the incumbent government was formed with the task "to free [state] authorities from the corruption baggage they have been dragging through all the years of transition [in Bulgaria since the 1990s]". Denkov did not mention a particular party.

In turn, Sacheva hinted that even now there is a minister in the cabinet who has not yet given an explanation for the CatalcaGate case [supposedly referring to shady property deals related to senior officials in CC, as it says in a publication by BIRD.BG].

Sacheva argued that fighting corruption is also one of GERB-UDF’s top priorities.
