The Interior Ministry has no information about any threat for a terrorist attack against the backdrop of the Middle East escalation. "We have no data from the Bulgarian services and our foreign partners about any threat for a terrorist attack related to the processes in the Middle East," Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov said at a news briefing at the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.

Additional security measures have been taken with regard to the diplomatic mission of the State of Israel and other related sites, so as to ensure the security of the employees and the areas where they are located, Minister Ilkov said. "As a precautionary measure, we have increased security measures at other locations," he added.

Regarding the evacuation of Bulgarian citizens from the Middle East, he said that there has been an adequate response from the Bulgarian government and coordination with all competent ministries, agencies and departments. More than 200 holiday facilities of the Ministry of Interior have been made available for accommodating Bulgarian evacuees. If these prove insufficient, other ministries' accommodation facilities will be used, he said.

Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev is convening the Security Council later on Wednesday and the President has scheduled a meeting of the Consultative Council for National Security on Friday.
