A second contingent of the Bulgarian Armed Forces has started its participation in a NATO-led KFOR mission as part of the Regional Command West, the Defence Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday. The outgoing national commander, Lieutenant Colonel Zahari Dimov, handed over the Bulgarian flag to the new commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tsvetan Deyanov of the Joint Forces Command, at a ceremony held at the Camp Film City in Pristina.

Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Kosovo Hristo Gudjev, who was a special guest at the event, said he was grateful and proud of the participation of the Bulgarian servicemen in the KFOR operation and presented certificates for successfully completed tasks.

The contingent is comprised of servicepersons from the 4th Artillery Regiment, 101st Alpine Regiment and 110th Logistics Regiment of the Land Forces, as well as servicepersons from the Mobile Communication and Information System of the Joint Force Command. They will be tasked with supporting security in the area, patrolling and surveillance in the area of responsibility, among others, the press release said.
