site.btaPM Denkov: Lower Deficit Makes It Possible to Budget BGN 1.2 Bln for Municipalities' Projects
Before the regular Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov congratulated Finance Minister Assen Vassilev and his team on a 2.2% budget deficit for 2023, as reported earlier in the day by Vassilev's Ministry.
"This is nearly 1% below the budget target of 3% and a third of the apocalyptic 6 to 7% with which the public was frightened for months," the PM commented.
"Don't trust statements without reasoning, regardless of who makes them. Look and assess actions and tangible results - they alone matter," Denkov added.
He said that the lower deficit achieved makes it possible to budget BGN 1.2 billion more than planned this year for municipalities' projects. "Everyone can feel the effect of this financing depending on how it will be utilized in the municipality concerned," the Prime Minister pointed out.
"We will continue to work for results that change Bulgaria for the better. It takes more time before everyone feels it in their everyday life, but we are on the right track. People are starting to realize it. Let us be confident about 2024 because we have a good reason for this," Denkov said further.
