The state of disaster in the Bulgarian coastal municipality of Tsarevo remains after flash floods on September 5 devastated the area and killed four. The decision was made Monday and was announced by the local government.

Work to deal with the destruction continues.

Tap water in Tsarevo has been declared unfit for drinking and new test results are due to see if that has changed.

Hydroengineers are expected in town to examine two water reservoirs that were damaged by the torrent, Deputy Mayor Marin Kirov told BTA. Both dams have since been emptied.

The main purpose of the two reservoirs is to collect floodwater during major showers and prevent flooding.

Tsarevo municipality has collected some BGN 43,000 from donations for flood relief, the Town Hall said on social media. They will be spent transparently after decisions by the municipal council.
