Serbian students and their teachers headed to Nis on foot, on bicycles or organized in a marathon for a protest scheduled for March 1.

The initiative in Nis is part of the nearly four-month-long protests and student blockades in Serbia demanding political and criminal responsibility for the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad train station on November 1, which killed 15 people.

The Instagram account @studenti_u_blokadi published a plan for the 18-hour blockade of the university city.

Separate publications indicate the places where marathon participants, cyclists and those planning to walk are gathering.

Students from Cacak arrived on foot in Kraljevo last night, while their colleagues from Bujanovac arrived in Vranje. A group of teachers from Novi Sad and Belgrade arrived in Bor by bus and are continuing their journey to Nis on foot, Serbian media reported.

A large number of students from Kragujevac, who set off for Nis on Tuesday morning, are carrying the Serbian flag on their backs along with their backpacks, according to publications.

The students also launched an action to secure places to stay overnight in Nis after information that the prices of accommodation in the eastern Serbian city have increased sharply.
