Worthy Bulgarian Award

Sofia, March 12 (BTA) - The 17th edition of the Worthy Bulgarians initiative was held in Sofia on Tuesday where the winner, Kiril Petkov, received his award from Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev. Petkov is one of the founders of a Centre for Applied Research and Innovations with the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia where each year 60 students receive free training. The 60 trainees are selected among 400 candidates from all universities in Bulgaria.

Handing out the award, Donchev said that Bulgaria needs role models more than ever. He noted the importance of having a strong society that shares the same goals and values. "We need to define several goals that are shared by everyone, and pursue them. This cannot come from the institutions but only thanks to good examples such as this," Donchev said. IG/ZH
