PM Borissov, EP President
Tajani Discuss
Mobility Package

Brussels, March 21 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and European Parliament President Antonio Tajani discussed here Thursday the Mobility Package and Bulgaria's opposition to it, said the EP press office.

Tajani said that the Mobility Package will be considered next Wednesday on a proposal by Guy Verhofstadt, the leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe in the European Parliament, to make sure it is put to the vote next week in Strasbourg at the last-but-one session of this Parliament.

Tajani told Borissov that he had proposed that the package be postponed but the Socialists and the Liberals voted against.

Borissov reportedly said that it is a violation of the rules and it will be the first time that a text goes in the plenary after being rejected by the Transport Committee. He was adamant that the decision on the Mobility Package should be made by the next European Parliament.

The Bulgarian PM also said that the Bulgarian members of the European Parliament will do their best, together with representatives of other countries which find the Mobility Package unacceptable, to make sure the proposed legislation does not come to a vote. LY/LN/
