Sofia, April 14 (BTA) - Manuel Padilla of Mexico scored 1,452 points to win the Men's Final of the UIPM 2019 Pentathlon World Cup Sofia here on Sunday, reaping the first gold medal for his country in World Cup history.

Joseph Choong of Britain placed second on 1,448 points, and Germany's Fabian Liebig was third for 1,446 points.

On Saturday, Marie Oteiza of France won the gold in the Women's Final on 1,352 points. Laura Asadauskaite of Lithuania (1,337 points) was runner up, and Alice Sotero of Italy (1,332 points) took bronze.

The official guests at the medals ceremony included International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) President Klaus Schormann, UIPM Secretary General Shiny Fang, Bulgarian Modern Pentathlon Federation (BMPF) President Andrey Kuzmanov and BMPF Secretary General Kameliya Aleksandrova.

The UIPM 2019 Pentathlon World Cup Sofia took place between April 10 and 14 with more than 170 entrants from 30 countries. LI/LG
