Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev spoke by phone with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, said the Foreign Minister on Saturday. 

Georgiev highly appreciated the ongoing intensive efforts of Qatar to promote peace in the Middle East, highlighting the key role of the country in mediating the conclusion of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Bulgaria will continue to support the efforts of the international community to fully implement this agreement, which would lead to the release of all remaining hostages, a lasting cessation of violence and creating conditions for peace and stability in the region, Minister Georgiev said.

During the conversation, Minister Georgiev  also expressed gratitude to Qatar for its assistance in the successful resolution of the Galaxy Leader case.

Minister Georgiev also expressed special gratitude for the release of Bulgarian citizen Daniela Gilboa, held captive by Hamas. The follow-up steps for the imminent release of the remaining hostages, including Bulgarian citizen Matan Angrest, were also discussed.

The two ministers confirmed their commitment to intensifying the bilateral political dialogue at a high and highest level, as well as to strengthening the bilateral partnership in the sectors of energy, defence, counter-terrorism, and humanitarian cooperation.
