site.btaSport Minister Meets Representatives of Association of Bulgarian Sports Federations

Sports Minister Ivan Peshev met with representatives of the Association of Bulgarian Sports Federations on Monday. During the talks, the problems and challenges facing Bulgarian sport were discussed and proposals for improving the activities in the sector were presented. "In me you have a partner you can rely on. I will be happy to cooperate and achieve results together," Peshev said.

He pledged that his team will work to increase funding for sport in the country together with the Finance Ministry and suggested that a working group be formed with representatives of the association to develop a national strategy for the development of physical education and sport.

At issue was also the possibility of forming a council of experts to assist the activities of the ministry in developing policies. The committee will include heads of sports federations, experts from the Bulgarian Olympic Committee and the National Sports Academy, as well as former ministers of youth and sports.
