In November 2024, the turnover in Bulgaria's retail trade, except motor vehicles and motorcycles at constant prices increased by 1.3% compared to October and 6.8% compared to November 2023, according to the calendar-adjusted data, the National Statistical Institute reported on Wednesday.

October 2024 saw a 0.8% increase of turnovers from the previous month and 5.1% from October 2023.

Monthly Variations

In November 2024, a growth was reported in retail sales of non-food products (except fuel) grew by 2.4% and by 1.0% in retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco. Retail sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores was unchanged from October 2024. Retail sales of non-food products (except fuel) grew by a substantial 7.5%. Retail sale in non-specialized stores decreased by 0.7%.

In October 2024, the turnover increased in all major groups.

Annual Variations

In November 2024, compared to November 2023, the turnover in retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 11.0%, and the turnover in retail sales of non-food products (except fuel) grew by 9.1%. The turnover in retail sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores declined by 7.9%. All subgroups in retail sales of non-food products (except fuel) registered a growth. Retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet increased by a substantial 19.6%

In October 2024, compared to October 2023, the turnover in retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco rose by 10.9%, and the turnover in retail sales of non-food products (except fuel) increased by 6.7%. Retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet shrank by 11.4%.
