Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Oncu Keceli said via the ministry's Ex account.

The spokesman clarified that the call was at the request of the American side.

"Our Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken today (August 21). The call, initiated by the other side, discussed the latest status of the ceasefire talks between Hamas and Israel and developments in the region," the publication said, without going into further details.
