 33rd Edition of Varna Summer International Jazz Festival Opens With Ari Erev And Giovanni Tommaso

Тhe 33rd edition of the Varna Summer International Jazz Festival opens on Tuesday, the organizers announced on their Facebook page.

On the first day of the festival, the audience will meet the trio Ari Erev (piano), Mihail Ivanov-Misho (double bass) and Borislav Petrov (drums). Erev lives and works in Israel and has performed at the International Jazz Piano Festival in the Czech Republic, the International Jazz Festival in Tel-Aviv, as well as at festivals in Tirana and Bansko. Double bassist Giovanni Tommaso will also be a guest on the first night of the festival together with Daniele Scannapieco (saxophone), Claudio Filippini (piano) and Alessandro Paternesi (drums).

The second night of the festival will see the performance  of the Frantik Zen project of saxophonist Arnau Garofe, in which he gathers guitarist Alexander Logozarov, drummer Borislav Petrov, bassist Radoslav Slavchev-Riverman and Steve Hamilton on keyboards. After them, the audience will also hear the Ava Trio of Giuseppe Doronzo (baritone saxophone, bagpipe, flute), Esat Ekincioglu (double bass, percussion) and Pino Basile (tambourine, drums, lupophone). The ensemble has over 130 concerts in China and Europe and has released four albums.

Rossen Zahariev (trumpets, percussion) and Dimitar Gorchakov (piano), together with Alexander Daniel (drums), will perform on the last festival evening with their formation Story Taylors. The festival will be closed by the Canadian group The Shuffle Demons with drummer and composer Stich Wynston.
