Entering Parliament on Thursday, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria co-leader Kiril Petkov told reporters that his group tried to bring the issue with corruption at the forefront and see if there is will in the 50th National Assembly to cut it. "What we saw is that there is not," he added. Petkov was asked to comment on the result from Wednesday's meeting with parliamentary groups, who discussed CC-DB's proposal for a declaration on the way out of the political crisis in Bulgaria.
Asked whether the political knot is tightening, Petkov said that what he saw on Thursday's morning TV shows is that the top news was the fire in the southeastern village of Voden and burned houses. In his words, the people and fire fighters are giving their all but the fire trucks are some 40 years old. The second piece of news was that there is no water in the village of Golyamo Bouchino. "I know that the Mayor is doing everything possible but the issue is that we have not invested in water infrastructure for 40 years," Petkov added. The common element in these examples is that over the years, this money has gone into the pockets of some people instead of into fire trucks, ambulances, and infrastructure. That is corruption, he underscored.
