site.btaMPs Reject Proposal to Get No Remunerations for Election Campaign Period
Voting on texts of the draft rules of procedure and organization of the National Assembly on Friday, the MP rejected conclusively the proposal to get no remunerations for the campaign period before parliamentary elections. The proposal was submitted by Victoria Vasileva, Yuliana Mateeva, and Nikolay Markov, part of the Velichie parliamentary group that ceased to exist last week.
Under the proposal, MPs are to receive no remunerations and to not use their official cars from the start of an election campaign until the newly elected National Assembly is convened. The proposal got 27 votes in favour, 66 against, and 86 abstentions.
The MPs backed the provision whereby Parliament will not hold regular sittings and committee meetings once an election campaign stars until a new National Assembly is convened.
The MPs also supported the provision whereby a bill tabled by the Council of Ministers should be presented by a minister or deputy minister.
