Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said Tuesday during a BTA press conference in Plovdiv that his party is ready to talk with all political formations except the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), but only under certain conditions. The press conference was also attended by MP candidates from Multi-member Constituency No. 16 in Plovdiv, Angel Georgiev and Ivan Penkov.
Varzahdane's conditions include referendums on the preservation of the Bulgarian lev and Bulgaria's membership in NATO, a guarantee that Bulgarian soldiers will not be sent to Ukraine, an end to sanctions on the Russian Federation, and a renegotiation of Bulgaria's EU membership.
Kostadinov outlined one of the party's main priorities as preserving the energy independence of the country. He stated that there is currently a Ukrainian-American group of "so-called experts" at the NPP - Belene. "We have information that they will put pressure on the National Electric Company so that our reactors can be donated, even though their value according to the inflation index is currently over 8 billion BGN," he said. Kostadinov warned of a planned removal of the nuclear reactors along the Danube River. Bulgaria will not soon have its replacement nuclear power, he was adamant . There is increasing pressure to close the Kozloduy NPP, he added.
Kostadinov also warned that, "sending Bulgarian troops to Ukraine is also planned, and the ultimate goal is to provoke Russia to attack Bulgaria." "There is one political force that can say no to the Americans, and that is us," he stressed.
"It is high time that Bulgaria has a Bulgarian and not a Euro-Atlantic government. The goal of Vazrazhdane in these elections is to have another mandate in Plovdiv to consolidate its position as a leading political force not only here, but also in the country," he noted.
