Meglena Kuneva Receives Second Highest Support for Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Candidacy

During the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Wednesday,  Meglena Kuneva received the second highest number of votes (70 votes) in favour of her candidacy for Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights. A total of 211 actual votes were cast in the voting, said the head of the plenary session.

Manfred Nowak from Austria received the third largest number of votes (37 votes).

Michael O'Flaherty from Ireland was elected Commissioner for Human Rights with 104 votes. He will hold the post for a term of six years.
