site.btaDeputy PM Gabriel Confers with Los Angeles Mayor Bass

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel conferred with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass during a working visit to the US city, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Thursday. Bass is the first female mayor in the 242-year history of Los Angeles.

The two sides discussed a number of topics, including the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the United States. The promotion of leadership among women and the development of young talents were also highlighted.

Gabriel and Bass discussed the possibility of designating a place in Los Angeles to place a monument to the Bulgarian alphabet. Gabriel presented Bass with a miniature copy of the monument to be placed, while Bass presented Gabriel with the Los Angeles Certificate of Welcome.

Gabriel extended an official invitation to Bass to visit Bulgaria.
