The Bulgarian Border Police General Directorate has received 60 SUVs, the Directorate announced on its official Facebook page Wednesday. The Directorate added that the vehicles were received under a European Union (EU) project to improve the technical capacity of the Border Police.

"This is the fourth time that we have received more of the much-needed equipment to successfully carry out our mission of protecting Bulgarian and European borders. Last year, we faced record migrant pressure, but we were experiencing serious difficulties due to lack of equipment," the head of Border Police, Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov, as quoted in the publication. He recalled that the Border Police has received this year a total of 220 patrol vehicles with increased off-road capability, and the migrant pressure is 70% lower.
