The ban on the entry of cars with Russian registration is expected to start in Bulgaria by the end of Monday, the Interior Ministry said after a BTA inquiry.

On September 14, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov stated that the document on the ban of vehicles with Russian registration crossing the EU borders had arrived. He then noted that the document was to be examined and a decision was to be taken on how to proceed.

On 11 September, the European Commission confirmed that the sanctions introduced so far against Russia over the war in Ukraine include the ban on Russian-registered vehicles crossing EU borders.
